Shrine To Your Sacred Power
Shrine to Your Sacred Power is dedicated to unlocking one’s personal, alchemical, infinite love. It takes the form of a guided, garden grove meditation ritual that asks for an offering, but always returns that which is given, in one fashion or another. It is for Explorers who seek self-acceptance, modern magic, and the taste of joy.
“Another important way in which the erotic connection functions is the open and fearless
underlining of my capacity for joy.” –Audre Lorde
“Prioritizing ourselves in love is a political strategy, is survival.” –Adrienne Maree Brown
“I didn’t decide to become a witch. I remembered I was one” –Lisa Lister

Finding The Shrine
When you arrive at the address, head to the rear of the parking lot. The Shrine is located there, next to Mobius Records. |
The Shoppes at Main Street is located in the heart of Old Town Fairfax City, along Main Street between Chain Bridge Road and University Drive. It is near the Old Town Hall, Old Town Square, and the Fairfax Historic Courthouse. The Shoppes at Main Street are locally owned businesses, including Penny Pincher Coins, Mobius Records, The Standard Barbershop, and an alternative art gallery and art studio space called Olly Olly.
“Experimentation and exploration are at the core of every thriving arts community. We know that the artists we need in order to have a thriving arts community in Old Town Fairfax City are already here, but they are often hidden away in their own separate studios and homes. The truly exceptional, avant-garde, local and regional artists working in disciplines of painting, sculpture, photography, mixed media, collage, appropriation art, performance art, installation art, conceptual art, street art, video art, and other bleeding edge media and practices need a dedicated home base that supports and challenges them to experiment and explore together.”

About the Designer

Jessica Kallista (she/her) is a SHRINES designer and an artist working in collage, video, sound, and performance. She is also an educator, curator, and gallerist with an MFA in Creative Writing from George Mason University. At George Mason University, Jessica can be found teaching Aesthetics, curating and co-moderating the CVPA Arts in Context Kritikos Anti-Racist Reading Group, and serving on the Presidential Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence Task Force Research Committee. In 2014 she founded Olly Olly, an alternative art space, in Fairfax, Virginia. Rooted in the belief that what we practice we become, Jessica’s installations and performances disrupt the passive nihilism intrinsic in many of our everyday lives by immersing audiences in the intentional, active, manifestation-oriented pursuit of revolutionary everyday love and bliss through meditation and play. She believes that often only the most minimal of interventions are required to allow us to engage with the gorgeous reality of our interconnectedness and our connectedness to our erotic selves. She invites audiences to revel with her in spell casting, consensual touch, books, sweetness, music, light, flowers, laughter, community, luxury, comfort, pleasure, eroticism, feeling, and sensuousness. Love and bliss are revolutionary acts. The current lockdown finds her increasingly obsessed with collaborating with trees in various projection mapping and augmented reality projects.
